The reality, according to the Department of Labor and numerous news outlets like CNN Money, is that the average salary for a working adult United States of America is $26,000 per year after taxes. When the income of two working adult is combined it comes to around $52,000 per year after taxes. Unfortunately, the cost of living according to these same organizations is actually around $60,000 per year for a family of four, which means most families are $8,000 short per year on their costs and thus need to rely on credit.
The reality for most average Americans is that they are $300,000 in debt by the time they reach the age of 30. This is the combined debt between school loans, a vehicle and a mortgage on a house. And each year the cost of school loans is actually rising, thereby forcing people into a never ending cycle of debt where their only hopes of ever paying off the government is to spend the next 50 years of their lives working to pay off that debt.
When doing a comparison of other countries around the world, it becomes readily evident just why it is that so many expats are starting to leave the United States for other nations. The cost of living in a country like Uruguay, for example, only costs around $20,000 per year for a family of four, yet the standards of living and creature comforts are exactly the same as the United States. Except that its $40,000 a year cheaper. Bulgaria is similar in costs, as is Greece, Italy, Mexico and beyond.
Not only that, but the cost of an average three-bedroom home in South America runs around $30,000. This is compared to the United States for the average cost of a home is around $225,000 for the same size. No one in their right mind would want to pay $200,000 more for something when they can get it for $200,000 less, which is why so many expats are choosing to live abroad and thus enable themselves to achieve an early retirement by cutting their costs.
$30,000 per year back into the bank while working a medium wage salary is something that even a child can understand. It is grade school mathematics, and it is the reason why so many are choosing to leave “the system” behind. When a person can choose their own country, choose their own cost of living, it’s relatively simple to set up to be retired in as little as two or three years while working a medium wage job…without the forty or fifty years of wage slavery.
